Northern Virginia Community College - Annandale Campus

- Northern Virginia Community College-Annandale Campus Office of Continuing Education & Workforce Development (NVCC-AC-OCEWD)
- Target:
- Korean & Hispanic Americans in D.C. metropolitan area
- Goals:

- Introduce programs, especially ESL programs and recruit students from Korean & Hispanic American communities to NVCC-AC-OCEWD
- A small job fair at event for employers to recruit from Korean & Hispanic American communities
- Invite employers to sign-up NVCC-AC-OCEWD training classes for their employees
- Services:

- Created posters and invitations in three different languages (English, Spanish, and Korean) and strategically placed them in community centers to promote the event.
- Invited community leaders, especially from the Korean and Hispanic American communities.
- 2 weeks Korean and Hispanic publicity & advertisements prior to the event.
- Held press conference one week prior to event, which had the presence of various ethnic media.
- Helped NVCC taking phone calls and answering questions from Korean media outlets & the public.
- Contacted and invited prestigious companies and organizations for sponsorships.
- Results:

- Over 400 attendees and many inquired about NVCC-AC-OCEWD programs, especially ESL programs.
- Employers who attended included Verizon, Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Service, BB&T, TSA, Target, and Cox Communications.
- Many Korean and Hispanic Americans signed up for interviews with the employers.
- The success with Annandale campus led to another similar project with Woodbridge Campus three months later.
